PsycHHology Engineering: What is Narcissism? Narcissism—as used in modern day cultural wars--is two things:
(1) replacement mental-illness du jour for Contemporary (1 'h) psychology's most recent mental-illness-bipolar-disorder-soup and (2) a euphemism for Selfishness.
More and more people in the modern world are discovering the new 21st century / 3rd Millenium truths:
Selfishness is a virtue. Altruism is a vice.
People who hold to the opposite and have dedicated their consciousness to self-sacrifice as virtue in honor of their choice are not unaware of the modern, third millennium culture that they live in.
At minimum they are aware of the growing sense that the first two millennia got the philosophy wrong – the philosophy of self-sacrifice as highest moral ideal and selfishness as evil.
But since they themselves could not reject this erroneous philosophy of their ancestors, they decided instead to embrace it hook, line, and sinker.
As a consequence of such embracing—coupled with the fact that (human) mind’s need a worldview—they now have no choice but to continue protecting their irrational view from collapsing all around them as ways ‘n means to keeping it from collapsing themselves--from within themselves.
Can’t says I blame them completely—a collapsing world view is scary, very scary. (Speaking here from firsthand experience.)
But their cowardice is not enlightenment.
They can pretend it is, but then that’s all it is: pretense.
If there was such a thing as gaslighting the self I’d say this is it, but since gaslighting is just another worthless concept from Contemporary Psychology, we have to name the real problem:
Social Metaphysics (SM, Chapter 2, kws: Pebble #1).
And the solution: Metaphysical Metaphysics.
A metaphysical metaphysician [SM’s opposite] is one who possesses and hence...benefits from:
that constellation of attitudes characterizing a mind that holds objective reality, not the minds of others, as its ultimate psycho-epistemological frame of reference.

So be careful: today’s uncontested slogans become tomorrow’s truths.
Wait.
Isn’t today, yesterday’s tomorrow?
Ayn Rand and her Objectivism Philosophy was yesterday’s discovery in the face of two thousand years worth of the then uncontested slogan: Selfishness is evil.
Ayn Rand’s discovery: Selfishness is a virtue; Altruism is evil, is still shaking the world upside down.
And growing.
That growth is what Altruism’s foot soldiers have to stop.
Stop or die (on the inside) is what t.h.e.y are scrambling to prevent.
T.h.e.i.r “reasoning”, Selfish’ism is growing so we can’t be against it directly—too many people could see this—so we have to disguise our Selfishness is evil attitude.
Hey, easy-peasy.
Let 1 ‘h Contemporary Psychology’s DSM-anyNumber “Bible” do it for us: go there read about NPD, Narcissism Personality Disorder, and substitute Selfishness for Narcissism to get, SPD, Selfishness Personality Disorder.
And ask yourself two questions.
One—ignoring the fact that they don’t even know what personality is—is having a Personality Disorder good?
Two—is Dr. Nathaniel Branden’s Biocentric Psychology with its classification system that is very sympathetic to Ayn Rand’s Objectivism--and to which my view of that system as expressed by me in PsycHHology Engineering, a widely spread, culturally accepted phenomenon?
The answer to this is easy-peasy.
So, heed my warning.
That is, I hate to keep repeating myself, but I too must defend my worldview: thank god for Ayn Rand and save yourself brother I had to and so do you.
